GEM vehicles are purposely engineered to move people on campuses and local streets. GEMs are
designed with more safety and comfort features than a golf cart, have a lower total cost of ownership than cars or vans, and have zero emissions compared to combustion vehicles. Riders enjoy a comfortable and safe experience with a spacious interior, weather-proof cab or open-air options, and forward-facing bucket seats with three-point harnesses.

GEM’s safety features go above and beyond the standard LSV (low-speed vehicle) requirements. LSVs
must be equipped with three-point seat belts, running lights, headlights, brake lights, reflectors, rearview
mirrors, backup cameras, and turn signals. In addition, speeds are limited to 25 mph for the safety of both passengers and pedestrians.
